It argues that belonging signifies both a personal, place-based feeling of being \u2018at home,\u2019 at the individual level, and a discursive, political concept of socio-spatial inclusion\/exclusion at the societal level. The paper asserts that both need focus when belonging is explored, as focusing only on one of the dimensions reinforces either socially de-contextualized individualism or all-encompassing social discourse. The paper also poses but does not answer the question of whether increasing cultural and ethnic diversity in contemporary societies will lead to communities of belonging that go beyond communities of identity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Antonsich, M.
